America’s collective heart rate? You’re in danger, girl, because Whoopi Goldberg and Demi Moore just sent everyone into nostalgia overload with a sweet Ghost reunion on the Oscars red carpet.
Before the start of the 97th Academy Awards, video showed Goldberg, 69, and Moore, 62, embracing Sunday afternoon outside Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, as Goldberg looked into Moore’s eyes as the friends and former costars spoke and held hands.
Though the majority of their conversation wasn’t audible in the clip (below), Moore — a 2025 Oscar nominee contending for Best Actress for her role in The Substance — was heard telling Goldberg, who won her first Oscar for Ghost, that she looked “cute” in her stunning dress.
In addition to Moore’s appearance on behalf of her Best Actress nomination, Goldberg will also play a significant role at the 2025 Oscars, as she’s set to take the stage as a presenter for the first time in nearly a decade, alongside her Color Purple costar Oprah Winfrey.
Moore and Goldberg both previously appeared in director Jerry Zucker’s 1990 romantic classic alongside the late Patrick Swayze, who led the movie as a murdered banker who, from the afterlife, attempts to protect his girlfriend (Moore) from a new threat with the help of a psychic (Goldberg).
Goldberg also recently reunited with fellow Ghost star Tony Goldwyn for the actor’s directorial movie Ezra.
“I literally just emailed. Bobby [Cannavale] and I were talking when the movie started to come together, we’re like, ‘You know who’d be amazing as Jane, [Bobby’s character’s] manager? Whoopi. I just sent Whoopi an email going, ‘Hey, I’m doing this movie with Bobby and Bob De Niro, there’s this part you’d be perfect for. Can I send you the script?'” Goldwyn recalled in a 2024 interview on The View. “You wrote me back immediately going, ‘I’m in, just tell me where to show.’ I said, ‘Don’t you want to read the script?’ She was like, ‘No, I’m there. Just tell me where to go!'”

Elsewhere, in a 2024 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Moore reacted to Magic Mike actor Channing Tatum’s prior revelation that he planned to remake Ghost into a new movie, with the actress noting that she’s interested in seeing what the star is up to, though he hadn’t reached out to her about it at the time.

“Look, every story in some ways has already been told. The wonderful thing is the different way things can be reinterpreted,” Moore said at the time. “I think there are some films that often are better left not touched, and left, and then sometimes there are wonderful surprises in that reinterpretation.”
